“It’s the scratch in the vinyl, the sticking point, that brings back the memory as much as the song.”
Set against a backdrop of new experiences, twelve iconic vinyls follow BBC Verb New Voice winner Matthew Lewis Miller on his first move away from home. Directed by international theatre artist Peader Kirk, Sticking is a poetic and rebellious story of love, fear and sex.
At once fierce and fragile, this first solo show explores what happens when we question what is expected of us, and will strike a chord with anyone who has ever felt lost in their own skin. From high heels to low places, Sticking wonders what choices are the right ones to make as we discover our own identity.
Sticking is supported using public funding by Arts Council England. Sticking was commissioned by Contact & New Writing North and has been developed through the North East Artist Development Scheme, with thanks to Gala Theatre. Produced by Leo Burtin for Making Room.
